Functional devices

During the Cold War, communication technologies were key to maintaining connections. One of the most important elements was the remote writing system, known as teletype, which allowed text messages to be transmitted quickly and reliably.

Radio communication systems, including shortwave and ultra-shortwave broadcasting, were key to intercontinental communication at a time when satellite and digital technologies were not yet universally available. These systems allowed the great powers to maintain contact even in the event of a nuclear war.

Many of these technologies were part of our facility. We are gradually bringing them to life and showing them to visitors.

Teletype

A telex is a device that allows you to send and receive written text via a telephone or telegraph network. There were several telex workplaces in our building, both civilian and military, including sophisticated encryption technologies.

During the tours, it is possible to take a closer look at the functional telex.

Backup power supplies

Analogue telecommunication technologies were energy-intensive, so the building was equipped with two ČKD generators with an output of 1.2MW in case the entire building was cut off from the electricity grid.

We keep both of our giant generators in working order and the visitor can see this technological gem in its full beauty.

JUFED 81

This unique device and the technology associated with it was not in the original project and was created in the 80s by the employees of the military floor.

In the event of activation of the object’s combat mode, Jufed-81 was used to centrally monitor which technologies, lines and communications were established, in order and functional and which were not.

Private Branch Exchange CA102

The first private branch exchange with cross switches in Czechoslovakia. In our case, it operated the entire road inside the building.

On the tour, it is possible to see a functional specimen that can still establish a connection and set up a call today. You can take a closer look at the technological unique control panel with cross switches.

This room is located on the VIP tour circuit , and during special tours you can try and observe up close the way of making a call.

We preserve historical heritage

We try to preserve the bunker with all its technology for future generations, and during the tour you can see it as it was preserved after the departure of the original crew and the removal of the secret telecommunications technology.

We revive original technologies

As part of our activities, we gradually revive the original technologies, which brings visitors a unique experience and authenticity of the environment.

We unravel the history of the bunker

In our activities, we seek out witnesses of both the construction and operation of the building and unravel all the functional links of this important place. We study period documents and conduct historical research to provide visitors with the truest possible picture of the Cold War period and the objects associated with it.

If you want to experience the unique atmosphere of this building, do not hesitate to visit us.
